Responsibilities:
Includes the following AND other duties may be assigned.
Address any issues with job performance as Kennel Attendants in a timely manner.
Coordinates special cleaning projects as assigned by Lead Kennel Attendant, Shelter Manager, and Board of Directors.
Keep the Lead Kennel Attendant and/or Shelter Manager aware of concerns, issues, etc.
Meet all requirements of Kennel Attendant as listed below and able to fill in at any area.
Understands Lead Kennel Attendant will be monitoring work on a daily basis.
Understands periodic daily walk through will be observed throughout the day.
Understands to notify Lead Kennel Attendant of Shelter Supplies needed.
KENNEL ATTENDANT DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
Includes the following AND other duties may be assigned.
Assist fellow employees and other areas of shelter as needed.
Clean and maintain floors, walls, floor board/moldings, windows, glass doors, cages (including top of cages), cat rooms, litter boxes, cobwebs, etc.
(Includes moving of furnishings to clean underneath and along the walls.
) Cleans and maintain other areas of shelter and grounds, as directed.
Consistently reports to work on time, prepared to perform duties of position.
Demonstrates efficient time management and prioritizes workload.
Dispose of trash, recyclable materials, and animal waste.
Follow safety and sanitation policies throughout facility in order to maintain Friends of Cats standards of excellence.
Maintain compliance with Friends of Cats Policies and Procedures.
Maintains a positive and respectful attitude.
Meets shelter productivity standards.
Participates in shelter events as needed or required and completes other duties as assigned, Perform routine housekeeping tasks such as switching out bedding and linens, laundry, dish washing, etc.
Performs duties as workload necessitates.
Represents Friends of Cats standards of professionalism.
Works in a safe manner.
Qualifications:
Ability to routinely lift, push, and carry 40 lbs.
Ability to work in an environment with cat hair and dander.
Able to work within a shelter that houses both ill and healthy cats.
Must be able to accept other duties assigned by either Shelter Manager and Board of Directors.
Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team environment.
Must be at least 18 years old and able to work Saturday, Sundays, and holidays.
Must be detail oriented and organized.
Must have good verbal and written communication and prioritization skills.
Previous experience with cats preferred.
Previous housekeeping experience preferred.
Previous supervision experience preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION:
Able to lift, push, and carry up to 40 pounds.
Though work assignments may vary from day to day, this position typically requires:
bending continuously; kneeling, crouching, reaching, and twisting frequently.
frequent exposure to animal waste, water disinfectant, detergent, bleach, etc.
Gloves and masks are supplied by Friends of Cats.
Other precautionary measurements/equipment required may be addressed with Shelter Manager.
occasional standing (litter box cleaning station and preparing wet meals for cats).
walking, often simultaneously with cats or other equipment continuously Animal experience (specifically cats & Vet Tech certified) preferred.
